NEW YORK – SEPTEMBER 19, 2017 – For the 25th consecutive season, Univision continues its reign as the No.1 Spanish-language network in primetime during the 2016/2017 season while also claiming the No. 1 Spanish-language network ranking across all dayparts. With an unduplicated audience of 76 percent not reached on any of the top 10 English-language networks, Univision will end the 2016/2017 season among the top five broadcast networks in primetime, regardless of language, for the 14th consecutive time.

“Univision is, and continues to be, the undisputed entertainment choice for Hispanic America. Our audience consistently looks to us to be entertained and informed with programming that resonates and impacts their daily lives,” said Lourdes Diaz, president of Entertainment, Univision Communications Inc. “These results reaffirm what our main focus has been all along, to deliver diversified programming, across genres and time periods while engaging our viewers through enthralling series and specials.”

ENTERTAINMENT

Univision also aired some of the most compelling and character-driven dramatic series that inspired and resonated throughout the 2016/2017 season. Among them, the vintage tale of love and loss, “Vino El Amor” brought to light the life of an immigrant family seeking not only their American Dream of success, but also the happiness of the family and the possibility of finding true love. Set in Napa Valley, “Vino El Amor” reached 13.6 million Total Viewers 2+ monthly and averaged 950,000 Adults 18-49 during its full-run. Other notable programs included the historical series and mega-production from Brazil “José de Egipto,” which reached 11.5 million Total Viewers 2+ on an average month and positioned Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during the weeknight 8pm hour in its full-run.  This summer, Univision also took flight with its action-filled series “La Piloto.” The first production from W Studios starring Livia Brito and Arap Bethke, “La Piloto” reached 13.8 million Total Viewers 2+ monthly throughout its entire run. The critically acclaimed co-production between Story House Entertainment (Univision’s development and production arm) and Netflix, “El Chapo” season one reached 11.4 million Total Viewers 2+ during its five-week run. Univision’s award shows averaged 39% more viewers than the combined audience of the three key award shows of its closest Spanish-language competitor.

NEWS

Informing and empowering audiences for over 60 years, Univision is Hispanic America’s choice for news coverage, regardless of topic. The 2016/2017 season will mark the 25th consecutive time that “Noticiero Univision” ranks as the No. 1 evening news program on broadcast television among Hispanics. With an audience that is 18 years younger than any of the English-language broadcast newscast, “Noticiero Univision” also delivers the highest millennial composition.

As the undisputed entertainment choice for Hispanics, Univision’s programming is unrivaled.
